A recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence and a Doctor of Education, Baron has published extensively in mathematics education. But after moving to Vancouver Island, she rekindled her first love: music. The 2023 German Pop & Rock Awards Ceremony was held in Siegen on Dec 16, 2023. Gunnar Nanuk is my friend in music, and one of our songs won for Best Rock Singer? WINNERS: Gunnar Nanuk and Lorraine Baron received an award for "Best Studio Recording" for our Hip-Hop song: Get Out. The prize was presented by one of the leading professional association (DRMV) called the: “German Rock & Pop Musicians' Association (Deutscher Rock & Pop Musikerverband e.V.)”. In a typical "Non-COVID" year, around 1,000 musicians from all over Germany would travel to Siegen for the Awards Ceremony. But 2020 was no ordinary year for awards ceremony, or for Gunnar Nanuk who won 6 more prizes to round out his three 2019 awards. This collection of 9 prizes over two short years is a record achievement, and a testament to Gunnar Nanuk’s powerful ability to create high quality and meaningful music.
