Awards!
WINNERS: Gunnar Nanuk - my musician friend from Germany - and I received an award for "Best Studio Recording" for our Hip-Hop song: Get Out. The prize was presented by one of the leading professional association (DRMV) called the: “German Rock & Pop Musicians' Association (Deutscher Rock & Pop Musikerverband e.V.)”. In a typical "Non-COVID" year, around 1,000 musicians from all over Germany would have traveled to Siegen for the Awards Ceremony. But 2020 was no ordinary year for awards ceremony, or for Gunnar Nanuk who won 6 prizes to round out his three 2019 awards. This collection of 9 prizes over two short years is a record achievement, and a testament to Gunnar Nanuk’s powerful ability to create high quality and meaningful music. The “German Rock & Pop Award” is recognized for supporting emerging German musicians, and has helped facilitate the careers of stars like Pur, Yvonne Catterfeld, and Juli.
These inclusive awards are presented in 116 different music categories, to allow for any musician, composer, songwriter, producer, band ,solo artist, or even instrumentalist to be considered. There are eight main genre categories (e.g. Best Band Rock/ Pop/ Country), and, each year, a jury of producers selects the winners.
For the past 34 years, the annual awards event in Seigen Germany has been organized by the German Musicians’ Association (DRMV) “Deutscher Rock & Pop Musikerverband e.V. (though the 2020 festival event was cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic – and awards were delivered through the mail).
