LYRICS

When I was a very young child

We lived in a suburb by the riverside

And if I really try hard to recall

I see things that may not even happened at all

I thought I remembered a park near by

We’d climb an old tree a-way up high

We imagined ourselves being princes and queens

And played out the spirited conquest scenes

Let’s try to remember

When we would surrender

To stories and daydreams

Of glories and ice cream

We wanted for nothin’

Were hopeful and trustin’

Remember the feelin’

Of daydream believin’

My mom would take us in the car we’d go

We headed out with the neighbor’s kids in tow

And in the back seat, we would play and fight

We got to the cottage by the afternoon light

I think I remember the best times we had

Competing in a make-believe Olympiad

We were leapin’ off docks and makin’ waves

And we went rowin’ and canoein’, explorin’ the caves

Such a picture-perfect place to recall

What it was like when we had it all

Our innocence is how we lived

In our ideal world, when we were kids

#instrumental

Let’s try to remember

When we would surrende

To stories and daydream

Of glories and ice cream

We wanted for nothin’

Were hopeful and trustin

Remember the feelin’

Of daydream believin’

Without inhibition in the front yard

We built forts and stages on which we starred

We put on shows for the neighbors there

And there was magic in the air

So try to remember just how it felt

To be so little and what it meant

To just be young, believe in dreams

We were wiser then, or so it seems

Let’s try to remember

When we would surrender

To stories and daydreams

Of glories and ice cream

We wanted for nothin’

Were hopeful and trustin’

Remember the feelin’

Of daydream believin’

Oh Remember the feelin’

Of daydream believin’
